Now it's time to slow down and answer the most important question, which is what Claude Code actually is and why a sysadmin should care about it at all.
If you've heard about Claude Code from a JavaScript YouTuber building a to-do app, you've seen maybe five percent of what it does.
The interesting part for Linux folks isn't the code-writing side, it's everything else. By the end of this chapter, you'll understand what makes Claude Code different from the Claude web app, why running it in the terminal changes how you work, and what it can and can't do on a real Linux system.
