  • Monitor CPU, memory, disk I/O, and system load using vmstat, mpstat, iostat, and sar, and read their output the way the exam expects.
  • Work through IP addressing, subnet masks, CIDR notation, and binary conversion, and calculate network and broadcast addresses by hand.
  • Explain IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS by name and classify any cloud service correctly, including the shared responsibility model and the 4 deployment models.
  • Describe availability zones, SLAs, vertical vs horizontal scaling, auto-scaling, and load balancing in terms the exam tests.
  • Apply foundational Linux security: SSH hardening, fail2ban, firewall configuration with ufw and firewalld, file permissions, SUID/SGID/sticky bit, LUKS encryption, and ACLs.
  • Explain the CI/CD pipeline, the role of Git and containers in a DevOps pipeline, and read a basic pipeline YAML file and identify what each section does.
  • Describe the 5 PMBOK process groups, the triple constraint, Waterfall vs Agile, Scrum roles and events, and the difference between copyleft and permissive open-source licenses.
  • Pass the LFCA exam on your first attempt.

How to Study for LFCA

Spend your study time according to each domain's exam weight, not according to what feels most comfortable.
