Intermediate Linux Distributions

7. Manjaro Linux 26

In this chapter, you'll learn how to install Manjaro, explore the KDE Plasma desktop, understand how rolling releases work, and enable AUR support in Pamac.

If you've been following this course, you've already explored some fantastic Linux distributions from the beginner-friendly Ubuntu and Linux Mint, to the elegant elementary OS, to the developer-focused Pop!_OS, and cutting-edge Fedora.

Now we're going to explore something a little different. Manjaro Linux is based on Arch Linux - a distribution that's famous for being powerful and flexible, but also known for being quite complex to set up.

Manjaro takes all the good stuff from Arch and packages it in a way that's much more accessible, so you get the best of both worlds without the steep learning curve.

In this chapter, you'll learn what makes Manjaro special, how to install it, and how to make the most of its unique features, especially the AUR and rolling release model, which are unlike anything else in this course.
