Chapter 25: IT Project Management Lifecycle
In this chapter, you'll learn what the IT project management lifecycle is, what each phase covers, how the project triple constraint works, and how projects relate to IT and Linux infrastructure work.
In Chapter 24, you finished Module 5 by learning Git skills in a modern DevOps environment, where you learned how to create a Git repository, stage and commit changes, work with branches, merge code, resolve merge conflicts, tag releases, and understand the three most common Git branching strategies.
Now it's time to begin Module 6: IT Project Management Fundamentals, which is the final domain of the LFCA exam and makes up 10% of the exam objectives.
Many candidates leave this section until the end because it doesn't involve Linux commands, configuration files, or system administration tasks. However, that's exactly why many people find it more challenging than they expect.
In this chapter, you'll learn what a project is, how projects move through the five phases of the project management lifecycle, and how the triple constraint of scope, time, and cost affects every project.
You'll also understand the roles of stakeholders and project managers, and see why basic project management knowledge is valuable for any IT professional involved in server deployments, infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, or other technology projects.
